Why in the news?

• Explosions were reported in Beirut and other parts of Lebanon in an apparent second wave of detonations of electronic devices. At least 14 persons were killed and 450 people wounded when walkie-talkies and even solar equipment blew up, a day after hundreds of pagers exploded, in an attack blamed on Israel

About Lebanon:

• It is a country in Western Asia.
• It is the second smallest country in continental Asia.
• It is bordered by:
  • Syria to the north and east 
  • Israel to the south
  • Cyprus to its west across the Mediterranean Sea
• Its location is at the crossroads of the Mediterranean Basin and the Arabian hinterland.
