Overall, Congo has more than 21,000 of the 25,093 confirmed and suspected Mpox cases in Africa this year, according to WHO’s most recent count.

About Democratic Republic of the Congo:

It is a country in Central Africa.
By land area the Congo is the second-largest country in Africa, after Algeria.
With a population of around 109 million, it is the most populous Francophone country in the world.
Its national capital and largest city is Kinshasa, which is also the economic center.
It is located in central sub-Saharan Africa.
It is bordered by:
- Republic of the Congo to the northwest
- Central African Republic to the north
- South Sudan to the northeast
- Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi and by Tanzania (across Lake Tanganyika) to the east
- Zambia to the south and southeast
- Angola to the southwest
- South Atlantic Ocean and Cabinda Province exclave of Angola to the west
It straddles the Equator, with one-third to the north and two-thirds to the south.
